Anthem - Ayn Rand A very spare, somewhat contrived tale of lovers caught up in a loveless, homogenized world. Rand really just uses this backdrop as a veneer to assail civil and societal structures. After a while, if you get through the first half of the book, you get used to the falseness of the facade, and if you are inclined towards revolutionary, anti-establishment ranting, then the rest of the book makes sense. To me, the book was more of a fairy tale and I kept looking for the enchanting conclusion, but this was not to be.
